BLHS students recognized for academic & arts awards

Wrapping up a year of student excellence, Big Lake High School held its annual Academic and Fine Arts Awards nights in early May. These events honored outstanding Big Lake students for their achievement and commitment to excellence demonstrated throughout the school year.

The Academic Awards recognized our National Honor Society (NHS) members, top honors students, and senior academic Letter recipients. In addition, several students were also acknowledged for other individual awards:

  • AAA Award: Kyla Gosewisch (gr. 12), Dylan Kunz (gr. 12)
  • YDYS Merit Award (Volunteerism): Georgia Shotliff (gr. 12)
  • YDYS Honor Award (Volunteerism): Linda Stokes (gr. 11)
  • NHS Officers: Kyla Gosewisch, Brooklyn May (gr. 12), Greta Schwirtz (gr. 12)

The Fine Arts Awards recognized our students involved in all areas of the arts, including Poetry Out Loud, yearbook, band, choir, one act, spring musical, and visual arts. Top award honorees included:

  • Fine Arts Student of the Year: Kyla Gosewisch
  • Theater Student of the Year, Cast: Kyla Gosewisch
  • Theater Student of the Year, Crew: Vincent Kaczor (gr. 11)
  • Visual Arts Student of the Year: Abby Rolloff (gr. 12)
  • John Philip Sousa Award (Band): Felix Belcher (gr. 12)
  • National School Choral Award (Choir): Kyla Gosewisch
